What the team writes about

The AnnaBrides Editorial Team prepares the material published under Dating advice and the information pages of the site: online dating, international and long-distance relationships, written and video communication across a language barrier, and the safe use of a platform like this one — including how romance scams work and how to recognise them.

The team is a working group inside AnnaBrides, the operator of the site. Its members are the people who run the platform day to day and who see, in support tickets and in moderation, what actually goes right and wrong for members. That is the experience these guides draw on. We do not employ or invent psychologists, lawyers or doctors, and the guides never speak in those voices.

How a guide is made

1. Research. What people search for, what they ask support, what the existing answers on the web leave out.
2. Sources. For anything that is not common knowledge — how a scam typically unfolds, what a regulator advises, travel conditions — we use primary and authoritative sources: consumer-protection agencies, law enforcement, official travel advice, recognised reference works. They are listed at the end of each guide.
3. Drafting. One guide answers one question, in plain language, for a reader who is often over fifty and reading on a phone.
4. Factual review. A second member of the team checks every claim against its source and against how the site actually works before publication.
5. Publication with a visible publication date and author.
6. Periodic update. Guides are re-read when their sources change, when the site changes, or at least once a year; the "updated" date moves only when the text materially changes.

What gets extra checking

Guides about safety, scams and money are checked by the people responsible for trust and safety on the platform — the same team that reads reports and removes profiles — before they are published, and again whenever a new scam pattern reaches us through support.

What we do not do

• We do not give medical, psychological or legal advice. Where a question touches those areas, we point to the primary source and say that it is one.
• We do not make claims about what "women from country X" are like. We describe documented context and individual variation, and we say which is which.
• We do not copy or rewrite other sites' articles, and we do not publish material generated without a person researching, writing and checking it.
• We do not accept paid placements in guides, and the guides do not carry affiliate links.

Conflict of interest

The team is employed by the operator of a dating site, and the guides link to that site. We think the honest way to handle that is to say it here, to keep the advice useful even to a reader who never joins, and to write the safety guides as if the reader were our own relative.
