Correspondence Rules

Last updated: 5 September 2026. These rules form part of our Terms of Use and should be read together with our Refund and Cancellation Policy.

This page explains how letters work: what a letter costs, when it is free, what happens to a letter that is not read or not answered, and what may and may not be sent in one. Figures given as examples are the figures in force on the date above; the prices that actually apply to you are always the ones shown on the pricing page, on your membership page and on the screen where you write.

1. What a letter is

A letter is a message sent inside AnnaBrides to one member, kept in your mailbox on the site. It is not email: it is not delivered to an outside address and it does not leave the site.

2. What is free

  • Reading every letter you receive is free, always, including every reply to a letter you sent. There is no charge for opening a letter, for reading it again, or for keeping it.
  • Women do not pay to write. Letters are charged to the man's balance only.
  • Your mailbox itself is free, and it keeps working when your credit balance is empty.

3. What sending a letter costs

Sending a letter costs credits, and the credits are taken when you send it. One letter is one charge.

The price does not depend on the length of the letter. Three lines and three pages cost the same.

The price depends on your membership level. Every member has a price for a letter; a paid level lowers it. The standard price is on the pricing page and what your level makes it is on your membership page. Where the two differ, the amount actually taken is your level's price — never more than the figure you were shown, and the amount charged is the one in your payment history.

Each letter appears as its own line in your payment history with the amount charged for it.

4. Length and attachments

A letter may be up to 50,000 characters long, and you may attach up to three photographs to one letter.

5. Paid photos inside letters

Some photographs are marked by their owner as paid. A paid photo attached to a letter arrives blurred, with its price shown, and stays blurred until you choose to open it.

  • Opening a paid photo costs credits, and a price is always shown before you open it. The price depends on your membership level, exactly as the price of a letter does, and you are never charged more than the figure you were shown.
  • You are never charged for a photo you did not open, and the letter itself is not made more expensive by carrying one.
  • Once you have opened a paid photo it stays open for you: you are not charged for it a second time.
  • Opening a paid photo lets you view it on the site while it remains there. It does not give you ownership of it and gives you no right to download, copy, save, record, republish or share it. The same applies to paid videos and paid posts.

6. Letters that are not read, and letters that are not answered

You pay to send a letter, not to have it read. The charge is made when the letter is sent, because that is when the service is provided: the letter is delivered to the member's mailbox, where she can read it for as long as her account exists.

We do not refund a letter because it was not opened, because it was not answered, or because the answer was not the one you hoped for. We cannot promise that anyone will write back, and we say so here rather than in a footnote. What we can promise is that a reply costs you nothing: you are never charged for the letters you receive, so a conversation in which she writes more than you costs you less, not more.

If a technical fault on our side took credits for a letter that was not in fact sent, tell us — we will restore the credits or refund them under our Refund and Cancellation Policy.

7. Free letters, bonus credits and the limits that apply to them

Two different things can make a letter cost you nothing. They are counted separately.

Free letters included with a paid membership level. Some paid levels include a number of letters each calendar month that cost no credits; on the date above these begin at the Gold level, and the number is larger at each level above it. What your level includes is shown on your membership page before you buy it.

That monthly allowance is capped per member you write to: the allowance a level pays out on any one woman is limited within a period — three credits' worth per day on the date above. Because a letter costs more than that, in practice the allowance usually reduces the price of a letter to one woman rather than making that letter free, and you pay the rest at your level's price. Written to several members over a month, the same allowance goes further. We would rather set this out plainly here than let the words "free letters" mean something on the membership page that they do not mean in your mailbox.

Bonus credits. These are credits we add to your balance free of charge. They are not paid for, they are spent before your purchased credits, and they are not refundable in money. They are limited per member you write to: bonus credits pay for a set number of letters to any one woman each day — one letter on the date above. A letter counts towards that number if bonus credits paid any part of it.

Nothing is ever blocked when an allowance runs out. The limits stop us paying for you; they do not stop you writing. Once an allowance is used up, the next letter simply costs the ordinary price of your level and is sent exactly as before.

Free letters and bonus credits are benefits, not money. They have no cash value, cannot be transferred to another member, and are not refundable in cash. A monthly allowance belongs to the month and to the level you are on at the time.

8. Who reads and writes on the other side

Every profile belongs to a real person who registered it.

9. What may not be sent

Everything in section 10 of the Terms of Use applies to letters. In particular:

  • Do not put personal contact details — a phone number, an email address, a street address, a messenger handle, a link to another site or app — in a letter, and do not ask another member for hers. Correspondence stays on the site.
  • Do not ask another member for money and do not send money to another member. A request for money is never legitimate, whatever reason is given; please read the dating safety guide.
  • Do not send pornographic or sexually explicit material, and never anything involving a person under 18.
  • Do not harass, threaten, insult or defame anyone, and do not keep writing to someone who has asked you to stop.
  • Do not send the same letter to many members, and do not use letters to advertise, recruit or sell.
  • Do not send anyone else's personal information, or content that infringes another person's rights.

A letter that breaks these rules may be held, and a repeat may lead to restrictions on the account that sent it. We may review correspondence where that is necessary for safety, for handling a report, for fraud prevention or to comply with the law (sections 13 and 14 of the Terms of Use).

10. Blocking, reporting and deleting

In our Android application you can block or report a member from her profile and from the conversation. Blocking works in both directions: while it is in place neither of you can write to the other, and it can be undone at any time. A report — for a scam, harassment, a fake profile, inappropriate content, a person who may be under 18, or anything else — goes to our moderators. On the website, write to support@annabrides.com and we will apply the block or look into the report for you.

Reporting or blocking costs nothing, and the member is not told who reported her. A letter you try to send to a member who has blocked you, or whom you have blocked, is not sent and you are not charged for it.

Deleting a letter from your own mailbox does not refund it and does not remove it from the other member's mailbox.

11. Refunds

Credits spent on letters that were sent, and on paid content that was successfully opened, are normally not refundable. Duplicate charges, charges you did not authorise, and charges caused by a fault on our side are refunded — see our Refund and Cancellation Policy for the full position and for the 14-day withdrawal right that applies to consumers in the UK, the EU and the EEA.

12. Changes to these rules

We may change prices, free allowances and limits for the future; a change does not alter letters already sent. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will give notice as required by law. The figures quoted above as examples are those in force on the date at the top of this page.
